This module covers the impact that natural systems have on South Florida. We will cover many areas, including visiting 2 natural systems, scientific, planning, water and legal issues surrounding this topic.
This program has been approved for 15 continuing education credits for Landscape Architechts by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulations Bureau of Education and Testing (License Number: PVD106, Provider Number: 0004925, Course Number: 0008648).
This program has been approved for 13.5 CLE by the Florida Bar Association (Provider Number: 248367, Course Number: 3911).

Introduction to Natural Systems in South Florida – Dr. Nick Aumen - is an aquatic ecologist and Water Quality Branch Chief for Everglades National Park (US Department of the Interior, National Park Service).

Water Planning from the Natural System to the City - Phillip C. Gildan, Shareholder ,Greenberg Traurig, P.A. will discuss the impacts and the issues that surround water in the South Florida natural systems as they relate to urban areas.

Lunch with Dr. Laura Brandt will discussion her work with alligator populations in South Florida.

Research at the Loxahatchee Impounded Landscape Assessment (LILA) Project – Rebecca Stanek, South Florida Water Management District will describe the LILA project, which is 4 small scale models of the Everglades at Loxahatchee National Wildlife Preserve where scientists are able to run real-world experiments to determine impacts on the Everglades as a whole.
