THE 2016 WATER Professionals

The 42 students in this year's UNESCO-IHE Florida program, our "Water Professionals," are MSc candidates in Hydroinformatics or Water Modeling.  They are from 28 countries and represent the world's largest water graduate school in the world, UNESCO-IHE, also called the Institute for Water Education.  As a part of their curriculum these students come to the United States to study models developed by the US Department of Interior, South Florida Water Management District, the US Army Corps of Engineers and many other organizations and bring that knowledge back to their home countries after graduation to help solve water challenges.

The Water Professionals are comprised of two student groups at UNESCO--IHE.  First are students studying Hydroinformatics in an 18 month long program, all done in the Institute's location in Delft, Netherlands.  The second group is a part of the Erasmus Mundus Flood Risk Management Program (FRM), which is a European Union funded program where students attend four universities in 24 months - Technical University of Catalonia (Barcelona, Spain), UNESCO-IHE, Technical University of Dresden (Germany)and University of Ljubljana (Slovenia).  Upon graduation they are awarded three Masters degrees.  The FRM Students spend their five months at UNESCO-IHE timed where they can be a part of the Florida program.

Make a Difference by Helping Them Make a Difference!

You can play a big role in the lives of these young scholars.  A crowdfunding campaign has been set up to help support this dynamic and important program.  Any donation amount is very appreciated, but if an individual or organization would like to "adopt" a student as their own type of water ambassador, that is an option at $1,000 per student.  Click here to make a difference by helping time make a difference!
